47th Scout Dog Handler Dick "Rich" Leonard spoke at the dedication of the Vietnam War Dog Memorial, at Layton Commons Park, Layton, Utah.
The monument honors miltary dogs that served in Vietnam, most of which never returned to the United States, having been killed in combat, died of disease, and, at the end of the war, either euthanized or turned over to the South Vietnamese Army.
In this video, Dick recounts his experiences as a handler of his scout dog Toby X365: in training at Fort Benning, and on patrol in Vietnam.
